The Buffalo and Erie County Greenway Fund Standing Committee on Wednesday awarded more than $2 million to eight projects designed to enhance the Niagara River Greenway in Erie County.
The Town of Grand Island was awarded $164,000 for updates at Scenic Woods Park, one of eight projects selected to enhance the Niagara River Greenway. Development of this area will add new resources to the Niagara River Greenway System, furthering the goal of establishing a continuous network of trails and public access points along the Niagara River between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, and will be fully accessible to all members of the public. Scenic Woods is envisioned to be a year-round facility that will offer the public a variety of passive recreational opportunities ranging from walking, jogging, and bicycling, to bird watching, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
This funding was secured through The Buffalo and Erie County Greenway Fund Standing Committee.
