Job Summary:
The Research Assistant will be responsible to identify potential funding resources for clients including municipalities, schools, and not-for-profit agencies. Responsibilities include researching funding availability, matching available funding to potential projects, researching eligibility requirements and feasibility, working with staff to develop individual funding strategies, and preparing funding reports and summaries for client notices and internal newsletters.

Job Summary
A small, private entrepreneurial grants consulting firm is looking for a Grant Writer – Full Time.
Responsibilities
Develop a wide variety of project applications for municipalities, schools, and not-for-profit agencies. Responsibilities include proposal writing; assisting clients in developing project concepts and strategic plans; identifying resources; researching funding availability; and completing detailed applications.
The preferred candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with MS Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat and the Internet, possess a current NYS Drivers License and a reliable automobile, and the ability to work independently and with a team of individuals from a wide variety of occupations. Preferred candidates will also possess the ability to solve complex problems effectively, comfortable working in a small office environment, meet deadlines and multi-task.
Duties
· Researches all types of Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) in order to determine if they are applicable to client needs and projects; · Discusses program requirements and sources of funds available with client personnel; · Develops, coordinates, and writes grant proposals for units of local government, school districts and not-for-profit agencies according to format required, and submits application to funding agency in time to meet deadline; · Confers with agency personnel affected by proposed grant program/proposal to develop the program goals and objectives, outline how funds are to be used, and explain procedures necessary to obtain funding; · Must be in constant communications with clients regarding past, current, and future grant projects; · Must be computer literate, and willing to work on equipment provided by J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc.; · Maintain frequent communication with the Office Manager regarding proposals; · Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years of work experience are required. Because of the diversity of the firm’s grant writing projects, a variety of educational backgrounds will be considered.
Some local travel required: Reliable transportation to attend work-related meetings and conferences
