J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Franklinville CSD was awarded $2,000 to purchase two high-tunnel Weatherguard Roundtop greenhouses.
This funding was secured through the Whole Kids Foundation – School Garden Grant program.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley CSD Awarded $500

O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services Cattaraugus-Little Valley CSD was awarded $500 to purchase vegetable and flower seeds to cultivate a “Literacy Garden”. The mission of this project is to literally “plant the seeds” of garden knowledge for the next generation while encouraging literacy skills at the same time.
This funding was secured through the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and Kids Gardening – Scotts Gro More Gardens Grant.
Franklinville CSD Awarded $67K

J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Franklinville CSD was awarded $67,055 to partner with the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Cattaraugus County to hire a Farm-to-School (F2S) Coordinator for two years to increase procurement of NYS produce from local farmers and distributors.
This funding was secured through the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets – Farm-to-School Grant.
Sylvester Manor Educational Farm Awarded $1K

J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Sylvester Manor Educational Farm was awarded $1000 to support the Young Farmers Program introducing children, ages 5 to 17, to the joys and rigors of farming. Children learn about and practice sustainable farming on their own section of the farm field and grow their own food. Once a Native American hunting and fishing ground, Sylvester Manor has, since 1652, been home to fifteen generations of its original European settler family. Sylvester Manor is an educational farm on Shelter Island, which over time has evolved from a northern provisioning plantation to the present-day educational farm open to, and supported by, the public.
This funding was secured through the Walmart Foundation and the Local Community Contribution/Hunger Outreach Grant Program.
