J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Cities of Albany, Schenectady and Troy were awarded $1,000,000 in support of their Breathing Lights project. This project will focus on urban blight by illuminating 500 available homes in the three cities for two months at the end of 2016. Utilizing green lighting mechanisms the light’s intensity and pace will create a breathing effect and bring attention to buildings that once housed families in vibrant neighborhoods. The Project will culminate in a regional summit addressing the issue of building vacancy.
This funding was secured through the Bloomberg Philanthropies.

J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Village of Lancaster was awarded $323,700 for their West Main Street Reconstruction Project. The work done as part of this Project will be in accordance with the ‘Village’s Revitalization Strategy’ and will allow the Village to rebuild and recreate their critical business district while also reclaiming and preserving historically important buildings. Funding will provide improved walkability, new amenities, and a new streetscape that will reflect Lancaster’s historic character and bring people into the Village for work, shopping and recreation.
This award is the first from Erie County’s Smart Growth Fund, a key initiative included in County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s Initiatives for a Smart Economy and which advances Smart Growth principles by concentrating development, preserving and reviving main streets and historic districts, and reinvesting in established areas.

J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Town of Gates was awarded $710,000 in recognition of the recurring financial savings they have generated through their Health Insurance Consolidation Project. The Town was one of only 13 municipalities recognized.
This funding was secured through the New York State Department of State – Local Government Performance and Efficiency Program Awards (LGPEP). A competitive program, LGPEP rewards local governments for undertaking significant and innovative actions that reduce the property tax burden confronting residents.

J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services grant funding in the amount of $498,237 was secured in the third round of the in NYS Consolidated Funding Application grant awards.
Awards through the services of J. O’Connell & Associates include:
Arts Services Initiative of WNY, Inc. was awarded $48,237 for its Arts Access Project. The WNY Arts Access Program was envisioned by ASI as a way to ensure that arts and cultural programming is available to all community members, even those who can’t afford the price of admission. This funding was secured through New York State Council of the Arts.
Village of Holley was awarded $250,000 to implement the Public Square Revitalization Program part of the NYS Main Street grant program. The program focused on façade, building renovation and streetscape enhancement will add to the aesthetic appeal of Holley’s downtown central business district along the Erie Canal and create a neighborhood that people will pursue as a place to live and/or locate a business. This funding was secured through the New York State Office of Community Renewal.
Village of East Rochester was awarded $200,000 for redevelopment of the Eyer Building into new retail and commercial offices. This funding was secured through New York State Empire State Development.

O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce through our services that the Village of Holley was awarded $99,000 for parking lot renovations and construction of needed infrastructure at the newly opened Save-A-Lot store, which created 23 new jobs. This project serves to develop and promote Holley’s central business district as a thriving place where residents and visitors have access to all of their residential, shopping and business needs, spurring economic reinvestment in the local community.
This funding was secured through the USDA RD Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program. USDA, through Rural Development, strives to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America.

O’Connell & Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that through our services the Village of Holley was awarded $171,167 for renovation and revitalization of an existing downtown storefront to house a new Save-A-Lot grocery store. This will provide the Village of Holley with a cornerstone economic development project and facilitate attraction of new businesses to the community, in addition to the creation of 23 new jobs.
This funding was secured through the New York State Homes and Community Renewal – NYS CDBG Economic Development Program, assisting communities all across New York State in local economic development efforts.
