J. O’Connell & Associates, Inc.is pleased to announce that through our services grant funding in the amount of $2,641,750 was secured in the 2018 NYS Consolidated Funding Application – Regional Economic Development Council Initiative.
Individual Client Awards:
The Village of Lancaster was awarded $1,248,150 to address needed repairs to a portion of their sanitary sewer system. These repairs will restore the water quality of Cayuga and Plum Bottom Creeks by eliminating wastewater overflows which occur as a result of wet weather events, which in turn improves the water quality in the Niagara River/ Lake Erie watershed.
The Village of Albion was awarded $600,000 to add disinfection facilities to the existing Water Pollution Control Plant to comply with NYSDEC disinfection requirements. The Village will implement an ultraviolet system that will ensure that the wastewater discharge into Sandy Creek watershed will be significantly safer for the environment and the community.
AgriAmerica was awarded $498,600 was awarded to support the purchase of equipment for a revitalized former grape juice factory in Chautauqua County, the largest grape-producing county in New York. The project will allow the company to manufacture and store different strength juices made from locally grown grapes for distribution to multiple markets. It will result in job growth in the fruit farming, distribution, construction, and retail sectors.
The Town/Village of East Rochester was awarded $250,000 to acquire and develop 3 acres of undeveloped land into a new park. Linden Park will feature a lodge that can be rented (40-50 people) with ADA compliant bathrooms and accessibility, and an open pavilion that can hold 60-80 people.
The Town of Macedon was awarded $45,000 to map its Municipal Separate Sewer System (MS4), giving the Town the information needed to improve its Stormwater Management Plan. Creating a GIS database and map to track illicit discharges and resolve water-quality impairment in a timely fashion will improve water quality.

Village of Lancaster was awarded $22,000 to conduct an Extreme Weather Vulnerability Assessment to address flooding and increased snowfall through the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
